The Card Stopped in My Phone

A micro SD card that stopped working in a phone and, tried in another device, asked to be formatted has a filesystem fault, not lost pictures — the card's directory, the structure that lists where each picture sits, has become damaged, so the device cannot read it and offers to format, but the picture data itself is still on the card — reached by imaging the card read-only and carving the pictures back by content.
